The Waveney Clarion was a unique publication, born of the Barsham Fairs. A monthly magazine, first published in February 1973, it hammered away for eleven years at social injustice, music, ecology, beer, art and the best type of potato to grow on your allotment.

Published over a tumultuous decade, the Clarion chronicled an extraordinary period from a perfectly particular perspective – the outlands of rural East Anglia, where coypu were hunted and music, fairs and the fate of our earth seemed to be the only concerns.

But it turns out that many of the concerns of the paper are the same concerns we have now, and possibly even worse.

Clarion Calling is an amusing and occasionally acerbic canter through the life and times of the Clarion, using slides, presented by John Ellerby, one of the editors and a long term contributor.
